With currently 18 locations, Euro Rastpark GmbH & Co. KG, part of the DV Immobilien Group, is the largest private provider in Germany and thus the market leader.
Challenge
One of the challenges for Euro Rastpark was that truck drivers couldn’t check parking availability in advance and often arrived at full rest stops. This situation led to frustration and the potential loss of customers. The key question was how to provide information about available parking spaces as early as possible.
Solution
Sensors were installed on each truck parking space at the rest stop. In addition, a remaining space display was mounted at the entrance. Real-time occupancy detection using parking space sensors at the truck rest stop enables the availability of parking spaces to be monitored and managed in real time. The sensors detect when a vehicle is parked and immediately transmit this information to a central control system, which displays parking availability on a digital map and via an LED sign.
