// Case Study

Vaihinger Markt
Barrier-Free Freeflow System in the Underground Car Park.

Transition to a modern, barrier-free freeflow system including payment website and QR discount codes, with continuous operation during installation. Goal: seamless, nearly revenue-neutral transition and a single point of contact for hardware, payment and support.

  • Project: Freeflow Conversion – Vaihinger Markt Underground Car Park
  • Focus: Barrier-Free, Payment Website, QR Discount Codes
  • Partner: PSH Parkservice Hüfner
Project Brief
  • Industry: Parking Management (Retail / City Centre Environment)
  • Use Case: Freeflow (ANPR) & Payment Website
  • Facility Type: Underground Car Park
  • Technology: Licence Plate Recognition, WSA Terminals, QR Discount Codes, Payment Website

// Overview

Initial Situation & Goal.

The underground car park at Vaihinger Markt was to be converted to a modern, barrier-free freeflow system – including a payment website. The key requirement: car park operations had to continue during installation to protect revenue.

The goal was a seamless, largely revenue-neutral transition: clear processes for parkers (without tickets), multiple payment options (including website) and a robust technical foundation with centralised support.

  • Conversion to freeflow – without interruption to live operations
  • Digital payment flow (payment website) + QR discount codes integrated
  • Centralised support: one point of contact for technology, payment & support

Project Challenges.

  1. Close coordination and flexible adaptation to diverse customer requirements
  2. Complex requirements while maintaining process reliability in live operations
  3. Coordination of multiple components (terminals, website, cameras, control centre)
  4. Smooth implementation without disrupting ongoing car park operations

// Impressions

Hardware, Payment and Support Working Together.

From the entry and exit areas to the terminals and payment website: the setup was implemented so that operations, the user process and support run smoothly even under high utilisation.

// Solution & Implementation

Barrier-Free, Robust and All-in-One.

A freeflow setup was implemented with licence-plate-based detection at entry and exit, two WSA terminals as the on-site payment component, a payment website and QR discount codes.

  1. Two cameras reliably capture entries and exits (ANPR)
  2. Two WSA terminals as an integrated on-site payment option
  3. Payment website as a digital channel – clear and quickly accessible
  4. QR discount codes for defined user groups / occasions

Rollout During Live Operations.

The transition was carried out so that car park operations continued throughout the installation. This required close coordination, flexible adjustments and clear management of all trades – without any restrictions for parkers.

  1. Coordination & implementation planning (technology, sightlines, signage, processes)
  2. Installation of cameras at entry and exit and integration into the system
  3. Setup & connection of WSA terminals and payment website
  4. Test operations, fine-tuning & go-live during ongoing operations

Central Support: We were responsible as the single point of contact for all project components – including terminal maintenance and on-site presence during implementation.

// Analysis

Seamless and Nearly Revenue-Neutral.

The transition ran smoothly and was nearly revenue-neutral. Operations were not interrupted during installation – this noticeably relieved the client and secured revenues.

  • Continuous operations without interruption
  • Nearly revenue-neutral transition
  • Fast problem resolution through centralised support

Relief Through Centralised Support.

By consolidating hardware, payment and support in a single hand, processes became more efficient: less coordination, clear responsibilities and faster day-to-day decisions.

  1. One point of contact instead of coordinating between multiple service providers
  2. Terminal maintenance included directly in the service package
  3. Control centre integration for clear processes and short response times

// Benefits

Revenue Maintained – Operational Efficiency Increased.

The car park continues to generate its accustomed strong revenue – thanks to the modern, barrier-free system with simultaneously increased operational efficiency. Stable functionality, fast service and a single point of contact ensure optimised operations.

Seamless Operations

Installation without interruption – the site remains reliably available.

More Efficient Processes

Centralised support reduces friction, coordination and processing times in daily operations.

One Point of Contact

Support, hardware and payment from a single source – fast assistance instead of responsibility ping-pong.
